You're going to make a million dollars on eBay. Really? Of course you are. You've been searching the web and come across literally 100s of sites which promise you ridiculous claims of "earn $100,000 per month selling on eBay" They gladly share this information with you for just $49.
It's time for a reality check my friend. I'm sorry, it's time for
5 min mentor
me to set a few things straight with you. I want you to sit down with me and get an education. You need to stop chasing the empty promises and get some cold hard facts. Its time you learned some tips and tricks before you blow all your hard earned cash.
Selling on eBay is great! Don't get me wrong. I am absolutely not knocking eBay or you. Well maybe just a little. I'm here to help you with some "tough love". That being said, stop cursing me and listen.
Most of the "magic programs" you find online that offer you to make a million on eBay are practically identical. They all show you the tips and tricks to selling and buying. They also all promise to make you rich. That's where we start.
First, let's examine one million dollars. It seems like a lot because it is. Having it makes you one of the sought after millionaires. That much money can change your life if you handle it properly. In order to have and hold one million dollars you would have to earn about $1.6 million. Remember Uncle Sam? Yup. He's getting about 35% of that and he doesn't take no for an answer. That translates into about $133,000 per month.
Second, how do you earn $133,000 per month? Well, if you're like most Americans, you don't. You want to. Everyone wants to. It's just few have the motivation, skills and persistence to pull it off. Of course, since you're taking the first steps and searching for answers, let's ignore that "don't" part I just mentioned and just look at some numbers.
An average eBay transaction in 2010 was around $50. Of course, many are higher and lower. I'm just using it for an average. So what exactly do you have to pull off to earn that $133,000 in a month to be on your way to eBay millionaire?
Well, let's see. It would take around 2600 transactions of $50 to reach $133,000. But wait! Aren't you forgetting someone? Don't forget eBay. They need to get paid and so does Paypalassuming you use them. That being said, you have to hit around 3000 transactions of $50 each to hit our magic number of $133,000.
Hold on a sec! I totally forgot. You have to buy or make something to sell for $50. That's pretty important. Okay, let's assume your costs to buy the item are $25 each. Uh oh. Now it looks like you're going to have to sell around 6000 of them to hit our goals. Woops! I almost forgot shipping. Gotta get the goods to the buyer. There goes some more money. Of course, that's only based on your cost being $25. Maybe your item costs more or less. Change the cost and you change that 6000 sold mark up or down. Damn! I hate reality checks don't you?
Okay so now that I've destroyed all your hopes and dreams and you totally hate me can we still be friends? I only want to help. Am I saying it's not possible? Absolutely not! Am I saying it's never been done? No way! The truth is, it is being done. There are sellers on eBay that sell tons of stuff and are getting rich! What I'm trying to do is direct you to a path of success and not failure. There are systems and resources available that are based in reality and not pipe dreams. It's those resources you should look into.
